LOWER FEST
Back to the circle. Back to the essence.
THE ORIGIN OF THE CIRCLE
There was a time when competitions were not everything.
Freestylers would gather outside the stage,
form a circle,
and start creating something unforgettable.
Lower combos.
Raw creativity.
Pure flow.
Those circles became legends.
They defined eras.
The Lower Competition is built to recreate that feeling.
Not structured.
Not forced.
Not mechanical.
Organic.
The Circle System
- Groups are formed in circles
- Only lower tricks & combos allowed
- No fixed turns
- Only one player at a time
- Flow must be respected
- Competition time is not visible
- Judges may pause time during major celebrations
Judges control the timing.
Players control the energy.
Qualifying Round
- Groups of 3–5 players
- Random draw
- 8–15 minutes per circle
- Judges decide when it ends
- Finalists selected globally, not per group
“Everyone competes against everyone.”
Lower Fest Final
- Unlimited finalists (decided by judges)
- 30–45 minute circle
Pure atmosphere
The final is not about structure.
It is about atmosphere.
Judging Criteria
| Criteria | Max Points | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Difficulty | 5 | Difficulty of the tricks or combos performed (higher technical level and complexity = higher score). |
| Variety | 3 | Variety of different tricks or combos shown (not repeating the same patterns; showing a wider range of lower moves). |
| Weak Foot | 3 | Use of the weaker leg in tricks or combos (the more meaningful the weak-foot involvement, the higher the score). |
| Clean Execution | 3 | Perfect execution of tricks and combos (control, stability, no unintended touches, clear finishes). |
| Style | 2 | Fluency and harmony within the performance (flow between moves and how natural the combos look). |
| Finished Combos | 1 | Completing combos without failing on the last trick (landing the final move cleanly adds value here). |
| Judge Impression | 1 | When the judge feels the player delivered a memorable performance (impact, presence, “that was special” factor). |
Scoring increments:
Scores are given in 0.5 increments only.
Risk & Freedom Philosophy
Risk is rewarded.
Failing the last trick of a combo does NOT subtract points.
Judges score until the last successfully completed trick.
Perfectly landed combos increase overall impression.
This is not about safety. This is about greatness.
The freedom in time and number of participants exists for one reason:
To keep the focus entirely on the circle.
On the energy.
On the atmosphere.
Everything else is handled by the judges.
The circle decides the rest.
